Our newest baby Silas was born September 22nd. The docs took him a week and a half early because he was sitting in no amniotic fluid, and his bladder and kidneys were full of fluid. He had hydronephrosis because of posterior urethral valves. Right after he was born he was rushed to the NICU. His lungs were underdeveloped, his right one had a hole in it and he had pneumothorax. Since he was born he has had 1 procedure and 3 surgeries to save his kidneys. One surgery was a ureterostomy. It is when you take the ureters and bring them up to the sides. So, he pees out of his sides now. He is currently doing dialysis. Hopefully it will be only for a few weeks. If his kidneys still aren't doing their thang after that he will have to get a kidney transplant when he is one. Today I held him for the first time since he was born. He will be in the NICU for the next several weeks. We are just thankful he is alive and well!!!
